Well, we had 4 hamsters moving into this year. Puffball the mama died on Jan. 16th..the day our power went out and The daddy hamster died last night. I think it's name was either comet or buddy. Micah changed his name 2 or 3 times over his 1 year and 10 month lifespan. They were sad, but not broken up about this hamster. Micah's response was, "yes I am sad, but he was old for a hamster."
They still have 2 left. Both of them are over a year and a half and they will probably not make it more than 6 months. At that point, you have to make a decision...what is the next step for you as a family and pets. Do you go back to the more simplier approach of a hamster or do you go deeper with the addition of a cat or dog?
On another note.. I tried convincing my boys today was Easter. It did not work. To many variables. For one, they had to go to school today and Easter is on Sunday. Of course Micah knew that I knew that he knew that it wasn't Easter.

Micah walking backwards...
My wonderful wife had left early this morning for a doctor's appointment and I had the priveledge of getting my boys off to the bus. Of course Micah was running around talking about how on lego.com they have clips from Indiana Jones the movie. He was telling us that it was the clip with the big boulder. At the same time he was also wearing his Indy hat and using his whip with the cool theme music playing (yes it is just the toy, not an actual whip).
As David and Micah were leaving, I went back inside for a sec to get something and as I went outside to walk up to the bus stop (about .2 miles up the sidewalk) I notice Micah is facing me. Yes, he was walking backwards up the sidewalk. To make it even cooler in his mind, he was doing it with his eyes closed. I was actually impressed. The kid made it all the way to the bus stop backward with his eyes closed and only stepped off the sidewalk on the grass 1 time. He did peak about 3 times but other than that he stuck it out. Yes, the modern day picture of a kid persevering in life!

I am hungry
Ok...here is a Kevin Deming original that you and your family can use. I am sitting here right now thinking of how hungry I am and instead of saying, "I need to get something to eat," you can use this new and cool phrase, "I need to furnish my stomach." Take a moment and create some cool word pictures. Think about how you would furnish your stomach..would you go with a mexican style, maybe american, or other. Just some thoughts for you to chew on today..and yes the pun was intended.

A bunny with 2 noses.

A bunny with 2 noses.
Don't you wish you had 2 noses? I don't. Well, would you pay extra for a bunny with 2 noses? I wonder if it smells better or if it makes it harder. I guess it would be a good police bunny. Imagine a bunny like this sniffing around your locker, school, work or home. Hmmmm...what would it find?

A Motorized Bar Stool....go figure!

What fun can you have on a rainy day? How about take an old lawnmower and install a barstool on the top of it. That way you can drive down the road with speeds up to 38 mph and then get pulled over. Yes, this is true. A man actually got pulled over after drinking 15 beers and heading down the road on his barstool.
I guess with that many beers he probably did not realize he left the bar.

Random Talk with My Boys
I just wanted to share some random discussions I had with my boys. There is no way I can do it justice b/c their voices make it all better. If you know Micah and how he talks it would make it even funnier.
There were several comments that they make all the time that are really funny but I just can't get to my computer in time to remember them all.
The only thing I remember from yesterday is...
Micah was talking to us and said, "Did you know Mom that Wal-mart has 18-20 feet of legos?" Becca replied, "yes, I do, and you know how I know." Micah said, "How?" She replied, "Because you already told me that."
I continued to find out what he was talking about and asked, "So do they sell 18-20 feet or what is it?" Micah laughs at me and says, "If you buy all the sets."
hmmmm....what an interesting way of looking at the size of legos!
This morning...
I had asked David to go downstairs and finish cleaning up his breakfast and so when I got downstairs and saw Micah at the Kitchen table and David laying on the couch I asked, "David, what are you doing?"
Micah Responds with, "He is making me learn how to do splits." I was like, "What?" David goes on to explain why he was teaching Micah to do splits when Micah blurts out, "But I don't want to do splits."
Well, Micah buddy..then don't do splits!

Building our own Backyard Fort

Last year my cousin and his family gave my boys their own toolbox with hammer, ropes, and some other odds and ends tools. Well, for a while they have been collecting wood from the dumpters from the neighborhood homes that are being built. They have put in our garage wood, plywood, and anything they thought would be good for a fort. Well, finally a month ago we decided to start the wonderful project of building the fort.
We have not finished but we have got 4 walls up a roof and a rope that connects between 2 trees with a rope ladder (Which David helped come up with that idea). It is not fancy and it didn't cost much to build but my boys have had a huge part in on it and they really love working on it and using their hands to build.
Just the other day Micah came walking through and heading into the garage after playing in the fort. I said, "Micah what are you up to?" He responded with, "I need to get my hammer and 2 nails to build something." It is great seeing them learn to use the tools they have and their creativity. Their fort is something they won't get bored with as much as if we would have just bought one and put it there. It was made with their hands.
